I had a post yesterday about an HP denial blog on Forbes by James Conca. He was basically demeaning the scientific theory of LNT.
In the comments I asked:
"Can you describe what biological responses occur or don’t occur at low doses, but don’t occur or do occur at high doses?"
In other words, there is enough statistical power to discern an increase in cancer incidence above 10 rem in the atomic bomb survivor study. We see the risk increase linearly up from there.
Below 10 rem (not enough statistical power to see epidemiologically) we infer the risk continues to decrease linearly.
Conca thinks that inference is silly. I think Conca is silly.
So, I'm confident my question will go unanswered, because if he could describe an appropriate biological response he would win the Nobel Prize.
We've spent more than a decade and $100,000,000 trying to find any biological difference through the DoE's Low Dose Radiation Research Project. It ain't there.
