Yes, that's very true. And what's worse is that those responsible for these weapons are easily taken to paranoia -- it's their job, so to say, and comes with the territory. It makes non-proliferation critical. But the cat may already be out of the bag on that.
BTW I haven't found any info on unintended almost-explosions (or actual explosions, come to that) of nuclear weapons in the Soviet Union. That would be valuable stuff to get unclassified.
BTW, a detail for which I have no current source: when Bush was holding his 'axis of evil' speech and preparing to attack Iraq, the North Korean leader was criss-crossing the country at random in his private railway carriage.
Many American libertarians are ritually afraid of their own government. It is underappreciated how many non-Americans are actually afraid of same.
Good point. To stereotype a bit, the American libertarians I'm familiar with have no problem that non-Americans are actually afraid of the American government. They just don't want the American government interfering (as they perceive it) in their lives.
Currently, liberals are better "appreciating" the libertarian view, thanks to revelations by Snowden and Manning.
Something a bit like this happened in the Soviet Union... I'm not sure but it may have been this

That page seems to not exist. Anyways, I'm wondering what will happen if India or Pakistan have similar occurrences.

ReplyDeleteWow, scary stuff. A lot of psychology when one really doesn't have a patient to conduct a valid exam on.

Yes, almost certainly such episodes have occurred, knowing humanity.
