IDiots P2

This is a follow-up to yesterday's post on the Discovery Institute, which tries to package their religion as the science of Intelligent Design, and so they have earned the name IDiots.

They have uploaded another video (what did ya' expect a scientific study?), and it's more of the same:

Axe asks how hard it would be for evolution to craft a new function on an existing structure?

They scanned the literature and they found the studies unconvincing (look up "motivated reasoning" or "confirmation bias")!  Of course they did!  They knew they would before they started.

The study of protein evolution has been going on since the 1970's and they evolve in the lab nicely, where the  lab puts environmental pressure on an organism mimicking natural selection.

This link explains what Axe really means in the video, and why he's really an IDiot.  He's making a crocoduck claim, by noting how hard it is for one modern protein (crocodile) to change into another modern protein (duck).  Of course it is!  That's not what evolution is about at all!  It's about progression from a common ancestor.
