We hope there will never be another radiation emergency involving high acute doses of radiation, but it's bound to happen eventually. Here are two good resources on the subject of how to handle victims.
The first (CAUTION - GRAPHIC IMAGES) is an on-line book called the "Medical Aspects Of Radiation Incidents", available free from ORISE.
The second is a the Radiation Emergency Medical Management website of the U.S. H & HS. It discusses everything from how a dirty bomb works to handling contaminated deceased.
